I founded R. J. Computer Consulting in 1992 to develop custom database applications and provide IT consulting services. When Maryland's 2025 sales tax on IT services took effect, I halted operations after nearly 33 years.
Thin margins and overhead that had more than doubled—plus the administrative burden of additional tax compliance—meant I'd spend an unacceptable amount of time doing accounting rather than work or other responsibilities. Non serviam.
I reserve the right to resume if it makes economic sense in Maryland or if I relocate from the 46th-worst state for business to one of the top ten.
In the meantime, contemplating a new company where you can engage with me for general consulting (nothing that would be a taxable service or even related to computing).
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
